SHERWOOD LEAD THE WAY AT DERWENT TRUCK SHOW

Charity begins at home, as Sherwood join forces with local truck industry to help give new hope for eight-year-old Edward.

As main sponsors of the second Derwent Truck Show on 28th-29th June, Sherwood Truck and Van helped raise £2,500 for a very worthy cause. Eight-year-old Edward Bright lost all four limbs below the elbow and knee after suffering from meningitis. Now back at school in Ripley, Derbyshire, Edward is working towards living a normal life like any young child, and the money raised at the show for the Edward Bright Appeal will go towards buying him a set of new limbs.

Together with his twin brother, Edward was picked up in a vehicle of his choice and taken on a scenic route via Derbyshire's towns and villages to the show in Ambergate. A convoy of vehicles, including Sherwood's striking Iveco All Blacks Stralis and Trakker, took part in the procession, stopping traffic to the sound of beeping horns along the way. Not surprisingly, Edward loved every minute of it, and once at the showground, the boys were presented with a large model lorry.

The idea for the Derwent Truck Show came about when local truck event commentator Dave Whittle, together with other local truck companies, decided to arrange a Derbyshire-based truck show to celebrate the local transport industry and raise money for charitable causes. All manner of different-shaped, sized and aged models of vehicle were on show over the weekend, not least a varied collection of classic and vintage cars and motorcycles, and a selection of steam engines.

Sherwood proudly displayed two new vehicles on their stand – the Euro 5 Stralis and the Euro 5 Trakker. And both – in striking black, displaying the New Zealand All Blacks’ unmistakable logo – made an impact on the Derbyshire skyline, attracting plenty of interest. Other vehicles on the Sherwood stand included the Iveco Daily tipper and the newly relaunched Fiat Fiorino, alongside the full collection of Fiat commercial vehicles.

If you missed the show and would like to view Sherwood's range of Iveco and Fiat Commercial vehicles, Sherwood not only offer 24-hour servicing and parts, they boast depots covering Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, South Yorkshire, Staffordshire and South Cheshire. Simply call 01773 863311 and a member of the sales team will be happy to arrange a test drive or a temporary loan of a demonstrator vehicle.
