'Chocs Away' as Sherwood Deliver in Time for Christmas It's usually Santa and his sleigh bringing chocolates for the world's sweet tooths at Christmas, but a growing fleet of Iveco Stralis trucks is fast taking up the challenge. World famous chocolatiers Thorntons are now set to distribute their unique brand of Christmas cheer in style after taking delivery of five new Stralis trucks from neighbouring Derbyshire-based Sherwood Truck and Van Ltd. Thorntons' tight Christmas delivery schedule provided a tough challenge for Sherwood, but they've managed to supply the trucks in the nick of time, much to the delight of all at Thorntons...and chocoholics everywhere! The new 57-plate vehicles are an addition to Thorntons' existing fleet of Sherwood-supplied Stralis trucks, taking the total number to eleven. And for Thorntons Transport Manager Dr Tim Swan, sticking with the Stralis was never in question. "We had 52-plate Stralis trucks when I first started at Thorntons, and two years ago I ordered four more," he explains. "We consulted the drivers and they really like them; the cabs are spacious and they have a great gearbox. So it was a simple choice really, and we ordered a further five. They offer great longevity; you certainly get a lot of truck for your money." Tim was equally impressed with Sherwood's ability to pull out all the stops to ensure the trucks were deliverd in time for the Christmas rush. |

"They did very well," explains Tim. "I really can't fault the service provided by Sherwood." Sherwood's Simon Makin is delighted Thorntons have returned to expand their fleet, but not suprised. "These tractor units offer loads of space, a high specification within the cab and a comfortable ride for the driver," Simon explains. "There's also the added bonus od incredible fuel economy, which has become vital with diesel prices on the increase. "Most importantly, though, I believe we offer a service that's second to none, and we've proved that by delivering the trucks to Thorntons in time for the most important period of the year." |
